Raja Harishchandra was the first film of Indian Industry. Dadasaheb Phalke was director of this film. It was released in 1913. This film was a silent film. Whole cast of film were Marathi. This film paved way for full feature length films. The lead actor of the film was DD Danke, the Marathi Actor. The lead actress role was of Anna Salunke who was a male actor. This was a silent movie. This movie didn’t have dialogue, sounds, only actions. The filming was completed in six months and 27 days to produce a film of 3,700 feet, about four reels. Premiere of the film held at Olympia Theatre, Mumbai on 21st April 19.
